Kathmandu. Executive Director of Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) Sushil Dev Subedi has said that there is still a lot of work to be done to make insurance reliable and easy and affordable for all.
Subedi said this at a program organized on the occasion of the 57th anniversary of insurance authority today. “Insurance should be made reliable and affordable. So that insurance can become an integral part of our lives,” he said. Which helps to protect a person’s life, property and business from accidental risk. ’
Executive Director Subedi said that the available data related to public finance, foreign trade and economic growth in the recent past has indicated improvement in the overall economic activities. “The Insurance Authority is committed to that,” he said.
Stating that the credibility of the insurance sector is yet to be established strongly, Subedi pointed out the need for all of us to be more proactive in extending the reach of insurance to the remote and backward regions of the country. “For this, it is imperative that all stakeholders related to the insurance sector should collaborate and carry out public awareness programmes in a big way,” he said.
Subedi said insurance is the most effective way to manage multi-dimensional risks arising out of natural disasters such as earthquakes, fires, floods, landslides, climate change and other uncertain events. “Therefore, it seems that it is the urgent need of the hour to ensure financial security by transferring existing risks to human life, homes, property and capital resources to insurance companies,” he said.
Subedi said that it is necessary to inform the general public about the importance of insurance, benefits and service process by effectively mobilizing the means of publicity. According to him, the insurance sector has been contributing to capital mobilization, risk management and long-term financial stability by being the driver of the national economy.
According to Subedi, nea has been issuing timely directives, circulars, information and guidance to make the insurance sector safe, reliable, reliable and sustainable. “The NRA has been directing the insurance companies to bring the latest insurance policies keeping in view the geographical diversity of the country and the needs of the citizens and provide services through digital means as soon as possible,” he said.
Subedi also said that the central and provincial offices of the NRA have been conducting insurance awareness programs in coordination with the local levels to increase the scope of insurance.
