KATHMANDU: Nepal Insurance Authority, Koshi Province Office has organized an interaction and discussion program with the teachers and students of Janata Namuna Secondary School in Biratnagar-2.
Rajendra Maharjan, chief of Nepal Insurance Authority, Koshi Province Office, said that insurance should be brought under the ambit of insurance as it is an important means of reducing financial risk. He also stressed the need to create awareness among the general community about the importance and benefits of insurance and the current status of insurance in Nepal.
He said that although insurance is necessary to get financial support in times of risk, citizens should be self-aware while taking insurance. He said that the family and the community should be insured to overcome the risk in the community and the damage caused during the disaster.
He said that the insurance would provide financial security against the risk to life and property as well as help in reducing the loss and that along with life insurance, house, agriculture and livestock could also be insured.
He requested to insure only after having a good understanding of the plan, terms and conditions of the concerned company.
Chintamani Rijal, principal of Janata Namuna Secondary School, said that although every family needs insurance to reduce financial risk, many people are still hesitant to buy insurance due to lack of adequate information about the insurance.
Responding to the questions raised in course of the program, Nepal Insurance Authority Koshi Province Chief Rajendra Maharjan stressed on the need to develop the habit of saving the money earned for future risk before risk.
About 80 students and teachers of classes 8, 9 and 11 of the school participated in the program. The program was conducted by Milan Pokharel, Assistant First of Nepal Insurance Authority, Koshi Province Office.
