Kathmandu. Nepal Insurance Authority, Koshi Province Office has held a discussion and interaction program with insurance surveyors. In the program, various topics related to the current status, performance, practical problems, capacity development and professional challenges of the surveyors were discussed.
On the occasion, Nepal Surveyor Association Koshi Province President Lalit Kumar Kayastha and other representatives welcomed Nepal Insurance Authority, Koshi Province Office Chief Rajendra Maharjan and apprised him about the condition of surveyors working in the province, their performance and professional problems.
During the discussion, the surveyors complained that even after submitting the report to the insurer, they could not receive the surveyor fee on time due to various reasons. They also requested the authority to conduct a capacity development program for professional capacity building and timely knowledge and skill development.
The surveyors drew the attention of the authority to the payment of fees, deadlines for submission of reports, procedural delays due to insurance companies and other practical problems. They said that there is a need to maintain clarity on such issues and provide effective facilitation.
Addressing the program, Rajendra Maharjan, Chief of Nepal Insurance Authority, Koshi Province Office, urged the surveyors to fulfill their professional responsibilities in a timely, impartial and more professional manner. He pointed out the need to document important events, case studies and learnings and preserve them as institutional memories to make the surveyor profession more dignified, credible and professional.
Maharjan stressed on the need to use the knowledge, experience and best practices of the surveyors in an institutional manner in the coming days. He said that the NRA would take positive initiatives regarding the operation and facilitation of necessary programs for the capacity building of the surveyors.
In the program, the NRA has pledged to take necessary steps for the effective implementation of its guidelines, policies and prevailing legal provisions. It will also be said that necessary coordination and cooperation will be made with the central office to carry out on-site inspections and monitoring as per the need and to resolve the practical problems raised by the surveyors.
The program is expected to enhance the professional capacity of the surveyors and help make insurance claims evaluation and survey work more systematic, transparent, accountable and effective.
