Kathmandu. Brent crude oil rose to $100 a barrel in Asia on Thursday. That’s up about 9 percent.
Brent crude oil is one of the most widely used benchmarks for oil prices in the world. Several countries, including the US and the UK, have announced record oil withdrawals from emergency reserves. But the price has not come down.
Meanwhile, Iran has continued its threats against ships transit in the Strait of Hormuz. This sea route is considered important for the movement of about 20 percent of the world’s oil. –Agency
