According to Bhattarai, SEJON has provided health insurance worth Rs 15.96 crore through Himalayan Everest Insurance Company, prioritizing the health and security of its members.

Health Insurance Facilities

Under the health insurance plan, the members of SEJON will get the insurance facility as soon as they are admitted to the hospital. The insurance covers minor surgeries, Rs 30,000 for emergency surgery and Rs 40,000 for major surgeries.

Bed charge, doctor fees and medical treatment expenses will also be included in the insurance coverage, said Bhattarai.

Group Accident Insurance

Under the Group Accident Insurance, SEJON members will be able to get a maximum coverage of up to seven lakh rupees in case of bodily injury due to the accident. According to Sejon, if the hospital has to be admitted due to the accident, the treatment allowance will be up to seven lakh rupees.

According to Bhattarai, the insurance policy has already come into effect and all the members of the organization will be able to take benefit from it for the next one year. Speaking at the program, Bhattarai said, “We have been working to enhance the professional capacity of all our members, which will always be there. Keeping in mind the health sensitivities of the members, this time we have insured all the members from the fund of the organization. Stating that it was the responsibility of the organization to work in the interest of its members, he expressed commitment to give continuity to such programs in the coming days as well.

Speaking on the occasion, CEO of Sagarmatha Insurance Company Anju Shrestha said, “We are pleased to receive the insurance service provided by the insurance company to the members of SEJON. Stating that it was necessary to bring all Nepalis under the ambit of insurance, she said that the importance of insurance has not been adequately explained to the citizens.

“The loss has not been minimized due to a lack of proper understanding of the benefits of insurance,” she said, adding, “As an umbrella organization of journalists covering the financial sector, SEJON can play an important role in educating the public about the importance and benefits of insurance.” ”
