Kathmandu. Oil prices in Asia rose sharply on Thursday after reports that U.S. President Donald Trump was briefed on new military options related to war with Iran.

According to the news website Axios, the US Central Command plans a “small and quick” attack on Iran with the aim of breaking the deadlock in talks with Iran. With this news, the price of Brent crude oil has increased by about 7 percent to above $ 126 per barrel. That is the highest level since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Energy prices have soared this week as peace talks have stalled and the Strait of Hormuz is effectively closed.

According to Axios, the proposed attacks could target infrastructure. Another plan would call for seizing control of parts of Hormuz and reopening it to merchant ships. This could include deploying troops on the ground. –Agency
