Kathmandu. Air France and Airbus have been blamed for the 2009 crash that killed 228 people.
A Paris court has held the airline and aircraft manufacturer Airbus “wholly responsible” for the crash. An AF-447 flight from Rio de Janeiro to Paris crashed in the Atlantic Ocean.
During the storm, the passenger plane lost control and plunged into the sea. All occupants died.
There were 12 crew members and 216 passengers on board. It is considered the biggest accident in French aviation history.
In April 2023, the court acquitted both companies of the charges. But on Thursday, after eight weeks of arguments, both Air France and Airbus were found guilty.
Both companies have repeatedly denied the allegations and have said they will appeal the court’s decision. –Agency
