Kathmandu. Employees of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) have returned to work after a gap of one and half months.
The employees of Sebon had taken to the strike after the Ministry of Finance sent a letter on September 18 to cut down the perks and perks of the employees. Sebon has been shut down for 48 days due to the employees’ strike.
The employees demanded that the revenue secretary-level decision to scrap the work procedure issued by the SEBON Board of Directors should be withdrawn immediately and the autonomy of SEBON should be intact. After the Ministry of Finance committed to meet their demands, the employees of Sebon have called off the protest and returned to work.
Ajay Dhungana, president of Sebon Employees’ Union, said that the protest was called off after the joint secretaries at the Ministry of Finance had agreed to address their demands by mid-November. “We have returned to work from today”, he said, adding, “We will be compelled to resort to protest again if our demands are not met within the deadline.” ’
