Kathmandu. The stock market, which opened nearly a week after the Genji protests, fell sharply on Thursday. The NEPSE index decreased by 160 points to close at 2500 points. On this day, all the indicators are red.
Experts say that the market has been selling pressure today due to the devastation caused by the Genji movement and the lack of investment-friendly response from the interim government. They are of the view that if the stock market falls in the same way, it will lead to capital flight from the market and spoil the investment climate. They have demanded that the interim government should address the issue of market to create investment-friendly environment in the stock market.
Market analyst Prem Oli says that the morale of investors has gone down as the interim government formed after the demolition has not addressed the stock market. “Investors were expecting some address from the interim government regarding the capital market, but it did not happen,” Oli said, “That’s why there was selling pressure in the market today.” ’
Oli said that the investors have not been able to buy the market even though most of the brokers have made the limit zero. “Investors sold shares today after they could not buy them,” he said, “That’s why the market may have fallen like this.” ’
On the other hand, Oli argues that when the market falls, insurance companies and mutual funds are holding up. “However, they did not raise the shares when the insurance companies themselves were in trouble,” he said. And how will the market collapse be stopped?”
According to Oli, the market can take a U-turn if the government addresses the investors within 1-2 days.
Another market expert, Prakash Neupane, says that the GenG movement has had an impact on the stock market. “Investors are terrified by the devastation caused by the Genji movement,” he said, “That’s why the market fell when they sold the shares even though they were at a loss.” ’
According to Neupane, the investors are not trusting the current election government. “Investors are of the opinion that this government should focus on holding elections rather than maintaining policy arrangements,” he said. ’
