Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) has signed an agreement with Nepal Clearing House Ltd. (NCHL) to automate its payment related payment processes. The agreement was signed by Mr. Ashok Kumar Poudel, Executive Director of Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited and Mr. Neelesh Man Singh Pradhan, Chief Executive Officer of NCHL.

Following the agreement, KUKL’s internal system will be integrated with NCHL’s National Payment Interface (NPI). The Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) will be able to carry out various types of disbursements like salary payment, vendor payment, government revenue, social security fund, Citizen Investment Trust etc. through NCHL, ICS and RPS systems. Such transactions can be done directly from KUKL’s Bank account to the beneficiary/the customers. In addition, KUKL plans to implement other payments in a gradual manner.

Developed with the concept of Open API, as an integrated interface of NCHL’s various payment systems, NPL currently has 53 member BFIs and over 110 non-banking institutions as INDIRECT/Technical Members including PSP/PSOs, remittance companies, microfinance, merchant banks, government and semi-government institutions. Through this app, members can make use of the organization’s NCHL, ICS and RPS systems.

Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) has been entrusted with the responsibility of operating and managing drinking water and sewage management services within Kathmandu Valley. KUKL has embarked on a long-needed digitization campaign to automate its billing and payment processes with an aim to improve service delivery.
