Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has advised the people to be cautious in the wake of the rise in the cases of fraud in QR payments.
The bank issued a financial awareness notice today. “With the increase in payment transactions through electronic means, there have been some cases of fraud in QR payments as well,” the notice reads. Because the screenshot can be an old payment receipt or a fake. ’
To be protected from such risk, the concerned seller or service provider should check their mobile banking app, mobile banking service or SMS and notification after informing the customer of the payment or showing the screenshot of the payment.
The central bank has said that failure to ensure that payments are received could result in huge financial losses later on. “Therefore, we should make transactions only after ascertaining that we have received the money while receiving payment through electronic means,” the NRB has said.
