Minister Pradhan has said that he has resigned from his post admitting that he has not been able to address the problems and concerns of the students and youths of the country. In the letter, he said that the repeated incidents of question paper outs have eroded faith in the country’s examination system and increased frustration among students. He also said that the incidents of student suicides have created a situation where people have to take responsibility for the incidents.

Stating that these failures are a reflection of the weakness of the government’s leadership, Minister Pradhan said that the Prime Minister should also take responsibility for the situation.

Meanwhile, activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been admitted to a private hospital in Gurgaon, issued a video message appreciating the youth’s movement against the distortions in the education sector. He expressed concern over the brutal suppression of peaceful protests.

Wangchuk, who has been on a hunger strike for the past 25 days, warned that he would continue his hunger strike until he was assured that there would be no pressure, suppression or any kind of legal punishment against the students. A total of 65 lawmakers and ministers had urged him to end his hunger strike.
