Kathmandu. Current fiscal year 2083. The government collected more than Rs 100,000 in revenue in the first 34 days of 2018.
According to the Office of Financial Comptroller General, the government collected Rs 100 billion in revenue on the first 34th day of the fiscal year (Wednesday). Out of the total revenue of Rs 100 billion, 14.55 per cent was collected as customs duty, 15.46 per cent as excise duty and 22.17 per cent as income tax.
Similarly, 34.04 percent revenue was collected from Value Added Tax (VAT) and 13.78 percent from other expenses.
The government has set a target to collect Rs 15.80 trillion in revenue in the current fiscal year. Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle has named it ‘Mission 16 trillion’.
Finance Minister Wagle has been directing the agencies under the Ministry of Finance to work in mission mode to achieve the high target of revenue by stopping revenue leakage.
The government had collected Rs 1.249 trillion in revenue in the last fiscal year. The target for the current fiscal year is Rs 331 billion more than the total collection of the previous year.
