Kathmandu. The Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) has taken action against 52 candidates for appearing in the online examination conducted by the insurance agent. Issuing a notice on Tuesday, the authority has canceled the exams of the students and barred them from participating in the exams for the next three months.
According to the NRA, the action was taken against the Insurance Intermediary (Agent) Examination Conduction Directive, 2079. Deputy Director Sabita Thapa said that the decision to take action was taken after it was found that a different person was participating in the examination than the person in the photo entered in the online system.
The examination was cancelled as per Section 8 (5) of the Directive after the NEA did not get a satisfactory response from the concerned insurers in this regard. The NRA has also decided to blacklist them as per sub-section 6 to be deprived of the examination for three months.
The 52 candidates were associated with various insurance companies. Nepal Life Insurance has made up 11 of this number in Nepal Life Insurance in the country, 7 of Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life Insurance and 6 of Surya Jyoti Life Insurance and 5 of IME Life Insurance in Nepal Life Insurance during this period. Apart from this, action has also been taken against the agents of National Life, Citizen Life, Sanima Reliance, Himalayan Life, Asian Life and Sun Nepal Life.
According to the authority, this step has been taken to maintain the dignity of the examination and to ensure fair competition. A press release issued by Deputy Director Thapa warned that those involved in irregular activities in the examination would be strictly monitored in the future as well.
