Kathmandu. The threshold for the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), a common body of financial advisers, has further increased the threshold for the business goals that an insurance agent has to meet in a year. This o
According to MDRT’s business goals for 2027, insurance agents in Nepal will now have to earn at least Rs. 6,2610,000 as commission to earn the initial MDRT title. As per the amended provision, the minimum commission amount should be Rs 20,68,700 and income should be Rs 3,535,82,900.
Similarly, the agent has to earn Rs 1,86,18,300 for the title of Court of the Table and Rs 3,72,36,600 for the title of ‘Top of the Table’.
A large number of agents from Nepal were eligible for MDRT in 2021 and 2022 when the minimum limit was reduced to Rs 3.4 million due to the Corona epidemic and economic crisis. Since then, the number of qualified agents has been shrinking as the minimum professional target has been increasing.
If we look at the details of the eligible agents made public through the official social media pages of the life insurance company, the number of agents who have qualified for this year 2026 is much less than last year. This year, the minimum target amount has been set at Rs 46.90 lakh. Agents now have a total of 41 days to meet this target.

For the professional goals achieved this year, agents are eligible for next year’s MDRT designation.
Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has also seen a significant decline in the insurance market this year.
Agents who meet the goals of MDRT have the opportunity to participate in international conferences. It is also expensive as the agent has to bear the cost of membership fee, international conference fee, visa fee, two-way air ticket, hotel stay, excursion etc.
