March 4: Election schedule endorsed, party registration programme from November 1-10

Kathmandu. The Election Commission (EC) has approved the election schedule for the members of the House of Representatives held on March 4.

Issuing a press release today, the EC informed that the election schedule has been approved. As per the schedule approved by the EC meeting on Monday, the political parties will be registered from November 14 to 26.

As per the election schedule, the office of the returning officer will be established from January 15 for the first-past-the-post election system. The election campaign will take place from February 17 to 18 and thereafter there will be a ban on publicity.

The voting will take place from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm on March 4 and the counting of votes will begin after the ballot boxes of both the electoral systems are collected.

The Election Commission is scheduled to set up the office of the returning officer on November 3 and submit the closed list on January 2 and 19 for the proportional representation system.

According to the press release, the EC will hold consultations and discussions from time to time as per the election schedule approved for coordination and collaboration with the political parties and stakeholders.

As the deadline for registering a party for the purpose of election is from November 14 to 10, only the political parties registered at the EC can register the party for the purpose of election. It is stated that the stakeholders wishing to participate in the election should get the certificate of registration of political parties before November 30.
