Kathmandu. The Taiwanese government is going to provide subsidized insurance facility to government dogs actively engaged in work.
Taiwan’s Ministry of Agriculture has announced to provide subsidized insurance facilities to dogs actively employed by government agencies. For this, a new insurance plan has been introduced in Taiwan.
Lan San General Insurance has introduced a new insurance policy for government dogs. The company has fixed the cost of insurance at $ 13,374 annually. This fee will be fully borne by the Taiwanese government.
Under this insurance scheme, the company will bear the cost of hospital treatment, admission fees, surgery charges and the cost of burying or burning the dog after death.
The Ministry of Agriculture will amend the bye-laws to implement this insurance facility for government dogs from September next year. From 2026 onwards, this insurance scheme will be made mandatory for dogs who are actively working in government agencies.
Taiwan’s Agriculture Minister Chen Jun Zhi said the insurance scheme would provide medical treatment for retired government dogs and search and rescue dogs. In which the government will provide partial concessions.
As of March, there were 292 dogs actively working in Taiwanese government agencies.
