Kathmandu. The highest amount of money has been claimed in the property insurance sector in the damage caused by the riots created during the protests of the royalists in Tinkune, Koteshwor and other areas of Kathmandu on March 15.
This has been seen from the data of claims received in non-life insurance companies made public by the Nepal Insurance Authority till April 15. So far, 21 claims have been filed under property insurance in 12 non-life insurance companies. A total of Rs 27,887,614 has to be paid by the companies for these claims. So far, the companies have paid Rs 3,242,341 for eight claims under property insurance.
Similarly, the second highest number of claims are in motor insurance (private). There are 22 claims in the motor insurance (private) sector among the companies. The claim companies have to pay Rs 10.62 million. So far, the companies have paid Rs 92,382 for four claims.
According to nea, so far, three claim companies have to pay Rs 3.7 million for engineering and contractor risk, Rs 2.75 million for two claims under motor insurance (public) and Rs 1 million 1,130 for two claims under miscellaneous insurance. The company has already paid Rs 1,130 for each claim.
As of April 15, 50 claims have been made in the companies for the damage caused by the riots. A total of Rs 45,962,721 has to be paid by the companies for these claims. So far, the companies have paid Rs 3,335,853 for 13 claims.
Among the non-life insurers, Shikhar Insurance has paid all the claims in the company, according to nea data. There were five claims in this company. The company has already paid Rs 498,213 for these claims.
