Ex-finance ministers suggest bringing in implementable budget

Kathmandu. Former finance ministers have suggested bringing an implementable and realistic budget.

Fiscal Year 2082 organized by the Ministry of Finance. In the 83-year budget consultation, the former finance ministers suggested bringing a practical budget instead of focusing on popular and slogan. They also suggested that the budget should be focused on production and employment.

The former finance ministers stressed the need to give priority to large, productive and implementable projects rather than proposing many projects. He also suggested giving priority to health, education and income generation programmes.

Former Prime Minister and Finance Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai said that priority should be given to the implementable budget with ideological and policy clarity. Stating that there was a problem when the state tried to do everything without adequate resources, he stressed the need for clarifying the role of public, private, cooperative and community.

Former Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat urged the government to bring limited and implementable projects following the criteria of project classification. He stressed the need for synergy between the finance policy and monetary policy.

Former Finance Minister Barshaman Pun stressed the need to complete the projects of national pride in a phased manner. Stating that special importance should be given to information technology, he suggested bringing a balanced budget from the provincial level as well.

Similarly, former Finance Minister Janardan Sharma said that revenue based on import is based on domestic production.
