Kathmandu. The National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management has decided to assess the damage caused by the floods and landslides that occurred in Asoj last month (DDA) within one month.
The council meeting held at Singha Durbar on Monday set a deadline of one month to assess the damage. In addition, the meeting has also decided to prioritize reconstruction and relief distribution in the earthquake-affected areas of western Nepal.
Engineer Dinesh Prasad Bhatta, Executive Director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, said in the meeting that it has been decided to complete the assessment of the damage caused by the monsoon disaster from Asho 10 to 12 in the relevant areas by Chaitra 28 and 29.
He said that after receiving initial details of the damage to about 6,000 houses, it has been decided to mobilize a team to complete the detailed damage assessment within a month. For that, 6 technicians from the United Nations (UN) and 12 local level technicians will be deployed.
The meeting decided to spread awareness at the local level to control pollution and to direct the three levels of government to mobilize human resources for control.
