Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The South Asia Trade Fair 2026 kicked off here on Thursday.

The SAARC level international trade fair kicked off from May 7 to 11 at Bhrikutimandap Exhibition Hall, Exhibition Road, Kathmandu from May 7 to 11, 20830 is seen as a major opportunity to revitalize business activities.

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Nepal Ruwanthi Dalpitiya, Ambassador of Bangladesh Safiquier Rahman and Acting President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce Dipak Malhotra and Fair Coordinator Suman Maharjan jointly inaugurated the fair.

The fair is expected to become a platform for the private sector to re-energize amidst the long-standing sluggish business environment and investment uncertainty in the country. Entrepreneurs who were lost for some time due to various economic and business conditions in the country are enthusiastically participating in the fair.

Introduction Trade Shows Nepal Pvt. Ltd. Ltd. The fair is being organised and managed by the Ministry of Industry of Bangladesh in collaboration with the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).

The program is supported by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment, Government of Bhutan as Endors.

Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries, Lalitpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bhaktapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chamber of Industries Morang, Lalitpur Chamber of Commerce, Nepal-China Executive Council, Nepal Cosmetic Business Association and World Enterprise Support Foundation are supporting the program.

Similarly, online partner eticketnepal.com, B2B partner Birat Bazaar, Internet partner WorldLink, lighting partner Exhibition Light House, e-commerce partner One Pasal Private Limited, textile partner Nitya Traditional and entrepreneur partner Udyami House.

Participants from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Maldives are expected to participate in the expo. According to the organizers, the main objectives of the fair are to promote products and services, study the market feasibility, and expand cooperation between buyers and sellers. It also aims to further strengthen trade relations between different countries.

According to the organizers of the event, more than 150 exhibitors are expected to attend the event, including around 100,000 local visitors and 5000 international and business representatives.

The exhibition will give priority to the responsibility of raising awareness about consumer welfare to use quality goods. With the objective of increasing export, the objective of this exhibition is to encourage all the business community to promote exportable goods and to take necessary initiatives for the same.

The expo showcases products and services stalled in various sectors such as clothing, readymade goods, beauty products, handicrafts, automobiles and spare parts, furniture, agricultural products, IT, home appliances, among others. Business meet, food festival, blood donation program and entertainment activities will also be held. The event is expected to open up new avenues of investment and trade expansion in Nepal.
