Kathmandu. National Life Insurance Company (NLIC) has issued a code of conduct for its agents. National Life has issued a social media code of conduct for agents after they started doing activities that are not covered by the Insurance Act.
According to National Life, some agents have been misusing the company’s name, logo, product etc. on social media while promoting the insurance business. The following activities are completely prohibited on social networks as such activities are against the prevailing laws, Insurance Act, Regulations, Directives issued by the Insurance Authority and the rules and reputation of the company.
The company has directed all the agents under the company’s provincial offices and branch offices not to do or get the work done as mentioned in the details.
- The official account of the company cannot be manipulated.
- Company name, logo and product cannot be used arbitrarily.
- Companies should not use positions (e.g. Insurance Advisor, Financial, Consultant Wealth Advisor) that are not provided for by the Agent and are not provided for in the prevailing Acts and Regulations.
- A single plan that earns interest on a company’s insurance plan will not be automatically defined as a fixed deposit insurance plan.
- Death Claim, Whole Term Claim, Surrender Value, Payment Value, etc., may be incorrect while disclosing the number of claim payments, so such information cannot be provided.
- While paying the death claim of the insured or paying any type of claim, the photo of the insured or heir shall not be publicized by publishing the photo or details of the cheque transfer or the details with the name.
- should not be published using the highest bonus rate of the company or similar commentary.
- should not accept insurance premiums or any other payment in the name of the company.
- should not be published on social media without consent in accordance with the right to privacy such as the customer’s photo, name, address, etc.
- Since the prevailing law and order prohibits the agent from doing any act contrary to the code of conduct, he should be fully responsible for the action as per the rules.
