Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — The Maha Shivaratri festival is being celebrated across the country today by worshiping, worshiping and visiting Lord Shiva. Government offices, insurance companies, banks and share market will remain closed today.

From early morning, the Hindu devotees take bath in rivers and ponds, visit Lord Shiva’s shrines and pay homage. Shivaratri, is one of the four nights known as Kalratri, Moharatri, Sukharatri and Shivaratri.

Since Lord Brahma took the form of Shiva at midnight on the day of Falgun Krishna Chaturdashi, it is believed that worshiping, worshiping and visiting on the same day of Chaturdashi at midnight will bring happiness, peace in this world and salvation in the hereafter.

Celebrated on the day of Falgun Krishna Chaturdashi, this festival is also considered as the most beloved day of Ashutosh Lord Shiva, who raises religion in the hearts of the poor and distressed beings.

It is said that Shivaratri is celebrated in the month of Magh because the trees, plants and weeds that are decaying and decaying due to the element of making the world cry or destroying the world.
