Kathmandu. The Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA) has directed insurance companies to give leave or extra salary in lieu of holidays and overtime employees.
The authority issued a circular in the name of all licensed insurers and issued this directive. The authority has received complaints that the insurers are employing employees more than the regular office hours on public and weekly holidays.
In response to such complaints, the NRA has also directed the employees to make arrangement of leave and extra pay as per the prevailing Labour Act and Regulations if they have to work more than the public and weekly holidays or regular office hours as per the professional necessity.
