Kathmandu. Fiscal year 2083. The second month of 84 is currently underway i.e. the month of August. Before the start of the financial year, there is a practice of preparing a list of tasks and priorities for the year and making it public in advance. Under this practice, the government has also been releasing the budget statement on May 29.
The Insurance Authority of Nepal (NIA) also started the practice of unveiling the annual ‘Insurance Policy and Program’ from last year. The Authority could not achieve many of the achievements included in the annual policy and program. However, this document has served as a basis to measure the efficiency of the Authority and the foresight of the Authority leadership. The examination of the policies and programs mentioned in this document has made it easier for anyone interested in the insurance sector to evaluate the achievements of the Authority.
For the first time in the 57-year history of the Authority, the last fiscal year 2082. The then chairman Sharad Ojha had unveiled the policies and programs in 83 years. The authority has been delaying to bring the annual policy and program for the current fiscal year. The authority had made public the policies and programs of the last fiscal year within the last week of July.
On July 19, when Insurance Khabar inquired about the NEA’s director and spokesperson Pujan Dhungel Adhikari, she said that the policies and programs would be made public in 1-2 days. However, even after a month, the NEA has not made it public.
The policy and program also serves as a standard to check what the NRA will do throughout the year and the status of the implementation of the announced commitments.
