Kathmandu. The Health Insurance Board has directed the health institutions providing the service to make arrangements to submit claims through the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
The Insurance Board has issued such directives to all the service provider health institutions associated with the health insurance program. In order to implement the claim management process in a fast, transparent and digital way in order to implement the health insurance system in a timely manner, the Insurance Board has directed to mandatorily implement the EMR system in all the services provided by the service provider health institutions.
In addition, the Insurance Board has also requested the health institutions to inform about the hospital software and modules in use and the plans for the expansion and implementation of EMR system in the coming days.
According to the Insurance Board, most of the service providers are currently submitting manual claims. The board said that the claim verification and evaluation process is time-consuming and there is a delay in payment of claims to the service provider health institutions, resulting in difficulties in the delivery of quality health services.
