Kathmandu. At a time when football unites communities across the globe, MetLife Nepal has launched a new initiative to promote sports and education in community schools in Kaski district. MetLife Nepal has distributed football kits to five schools in Kaski as part of the initiative that aims to empower new generation through education and sports.
This program will help children of urban and rural areas. The program is being run in collaboration with the Karmayog Foundation, which has been working to expand opportunities for sports and education for underprivileged youth.
The initiative will provide around 160 footballs as well as basic training equipment such as cones, goalpost nets, air pumps and more. In addition, the selected students will also be awarded jerseys, which will help to encourage organized sporting activities in schools as well as to revive the regular sports culture in community education.
The program is part of MetLife Nepal’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) campaign, which focuses on the education sector. Through this school-centric initiative, MetLife and Karmayog Foundation aim to create an environment in which children can develop the values of sports, team spirit, fairness, patience and mutual respect in addition to their classroom learning.
Speaking about the initiative, Nirmal Kaji Shrestha, General Manager of MetLife Nepal said, “Sports has an unparalleled power to unite children, especially in community schools where opportunities are limited. As the fascination for football continues to grow around the world, we decided to help schools develop students’ confidence, interest in learning and ability to face challenges through football. “
