Kathmandu. With the increase in the price of petroleum products, the public transport fare has also been increased.
The Department of Transport Management has increased the public transport fare at the consensus of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Management. According to the department, the fare of passenger vehicles has increased by 16.71 percent. The rate of goods carrier vehicles in the hilly region has been increased by 21.68 percent and the number of goods vehicles in the Terai by 15.75 percent.
The department has increased the fare by analyzing 13 indicators and taking into account the change in the price of fuel. This new fare will be effective from today, April 25.
The Department has been automatically adjusting the public transport fare since 2072 BS. The department has been adjusting the fare if the market price of fuel which is a major indicator increases or decreases by 5 percent or more.
The department had last adjusted the price of diesel on January 5, 2081 when the average market price was Rs 150.83 per liter. After that, the department has adjusted the fare today.
