Nepal’s economy grows by 4.1 percent in 2018-19

Kathmandu. According to the annual report released by the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday, the size of Nepal’s economy has reached over Rs 61 trillion.

According to the ministry, the size of the economy reached Rs 6.107 trillion in the last fiscal year 2081/82. In the last fiscal year, the economic growth rate was 4.61 percent.

According to the annual report released by the Ministry of Finance, only 81.33 percent of the total budget for the last fiscal year has been spent. The government had allocated Rs 18.60 trillion but spent only Rs 15.1298 trillion.

According to the report, the capital expenditure is very small compared to the current expenditure. Of the total amount allocated for current expenditure, 83.84 per cent has been spent while 63.56 per cent has been spent on capital expenditure. In the last fiscal year, Rs 956 billion was spent in current expenditure and Rs 223.94 billion in capital expenditure.

According to the report, out of Rs 367 billion, Rs 332 billion or 90.58 per cent has been spent.

In the last fiscal year, the total revenue collection was around Rs 11.19 trillion. Out of this, tax revenue is approximately Rs 1049.87 billion, non-tax revenue is Rs 128.94 billion and other receipts are Rs 17.37 billion.

As against the budget revenue collection target of Rs 1,419.30 billion, about 84.28 per cent of the target has been achieved.
