Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has decided not to sell gold coins to customers during this year’s Tihar. Instead, the central bank has started selling silver coins.
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has started selling silver coins (medallions) from October 12. The Taksar Division under the bank’s currency management department has started selling silver medallions.
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has started issuing 4 types of silver coins. Accordingly, customers can purchase Laxmi Medallion (10 grams), Ganesh Medallion (10 grams), Jaglaxmi Medallion (10 grams) and Gai Medallion (10 grams) by visiting Taksar Division.
According to the Nepal Rastra Bank, each medallions are priced at Rs 3,200 and will be sold at Rs 1 per person.
The central bank has also urged the borrowers to bring a photocopy of their citizenship or any other identity card with their citizenship number while purchasing silver coins.
