Kathmandu. Suna Basnet is a woman who has made a name for herself in the insurance sector in a short time. Currently, she is working as an agency manager at Citizen Life Insurance Company’s Butwal branch. Along with her business, she becomes an insurance agent and spreads insurance awareness in her spare time.

Suna represents Citizen Life and works to spread awareness about insurance education and insurance in the insurance market. She has taken the responsibility of her business to increase the access of insurance to all, taking out time for insurance and spreading awareness about insurance in her family and society as well as in different places.

Born in Achham, Suna’s childhood was spent in a happy way. Suna’s childhood was spent in Achham as her father was an army man. She studied in grade 6-7 in Achham. After that, Suna completed her SLC degree from Golpark of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City. Suna, the youngest of 3 children of her parents, had the opportunity to have a fun childhood without feeling anything lacking since childhood.

Suna currently resides in Tilottama-2, Shankhanagar. Suna has completed her studies up to Plus Two. Suna had been running a cosmetic and gift shop before entering the insurance sector. She is still continuing her business. Now Suna has been managing both the insurance agent and her shop by giving time to both sides.

Suna’s friend Keshari proposed to her for insurance while going to Nepal beautician training for 1 day. Keshari also suggested working as an agent. Keshari said, “Agent is a very good and respectable profession. An agent is a well-known profession in the international market. Can be done when you have your time. It is also a social profession as it is a profession where you can earn income and also involve others in insurance,” she said.

“Okay, I’ll do it,” she said, saying that a friend she knew would do a good job. After that, Suna got her insurance done through a friend and started working in the last year 2074 BS with an insurance agent’s license from Citizen Life’s Butwal.

After getting her license, Suna initially insured her daughter. Suna did not understand the insurance when she entered the insurance sector. However, while participating in the training provided by the company, roaming the market, and submitting the insurance to all the friends, she also became proficient in insurance. In the days that followed, Suna continued to do good business. After receiving the awards by fulfilling the goal given by the company, Suna became more motivated and became more aware of the insurance and was able to get very good insurance. And then Suna had the courage and confidence to say, ‘Now I can do something’.

Suna also got back support to get insurance through her shop. She says that her family is very supportive of Suna’s work. “Since my husband is in the medical field, I have been able to sell the policy of Citizen Life to the big people,” she said, “I am very happy to sell the policy of Citizen Life to my husband’s friends by offering insurance to them.” ’

“I respect both professions. But I am very happy and satisfied with the profession of an agent. I have been able to use my free time to impart insurance knowledge to the society. I am also financially supported,” Suna said, “I am very happy that I have been able to spend a little time to inspire others to protect the lives of others.” I have never regretted pursuing this profession. ’

Suna feels that now everyone understands insurance compared to before. “People have different opinions and opinions. Not everyone may like this profession, but I have found that people are confused about the agent profession,” she said, “Agents do not like the profession, but if you understand it, there is no better profession than this profession.” ’

Suna said that after joining Citizen Life, she became known to everyone. “I got to know many friends, friends and neighbours and share their thoughts with each other. I had the opportunity to visit many places. I got to learn new knowledge-based things,” she said, “I got to participate in the awareness training provided by the company and share knowledge with others.” I am very grateful to the company for this. ’

Suna argues that the profession of an agent is a respectable profession for women. “The agent profession is excellent for the women sisters who are spending time at home without doing any work,” she said, “I urge women to understand this profession and work in their leisure time.” ’

According to Suna, insurance is essential for all. “Tomorrow may not be the same time as today. People’s lives are not always the same,” she said. Insurance is the support for old age, a friend of adversity. Insurance becomes a charioteer to reduce the compensation of financial events that occur in life. That’s why you have to be insured because you are earning now. ’

Suna believes that having insurance is essential to building the habit of saving small amounts of money and it will ensure a bright future.

Suna feels that an agent has to be diligent about his profession. “Only a person who goes there again and again without giving up can become a successful agent. It takes months to get an insurance,” she said, “Anyone who is persistent can succeed in this profession.” The harder you work in this profession, the more you earn. ’

Suna believes that insurance agents should be hardworking, honest, patient, able to explain insurance and listen to customers.
