Kathmandu. Janji’s protests on Monday turned violent after the government banned social media. At the same time, the number of people killed and injured in police firing is also increasing.
In order to control the Zenji movement, the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, has issued a curfew order in the VIP areas of Kathmandu, including Baneshwor. The protests took a violent turn after the protesters entered the parliament building.
Police fired tear gas and water cannons at the protesters. The police opened fire on the protesters as the protest was not controlled.
According to preliminary information received from various hospital sources, eight protesters have died and hundreds of injured are being treated. According to preliminary information, five people died while undergoing treatment at The Trauma Center in Kathmandu, two at The Civil Hospital and one at KMC Hospital. The death toll is likely to rise further.
Hundreds of people are being treated in hospitals. Some of them are said to be in critical condition.
