Foreign investment commitment slightly improved, highest commitment in service sector

There has been a slight improvement in the commitment of foreign investment in Nepal in the last one year. According to the annual statistics published by the Department of Industry, the last fiscal year 2081. There has been only a modest increase of 4.9 percent in the commitment amount in 82.

Foreign investors have pledged to invest a total of Rs 64.96 billion in the last fiscal year. Last fiscal year 2080. It had received foreign direct investment commitment worth Rs 61.90 billion in 2018.

Most of the investment commitments have been received in the service and tourism sector. The Department has approved a commitment of Rs 30.09 billion for projects related to 84 service industries. The tourism industry has received a commitment of Rs 26.82 billion for 304 new projects.

Of the total 840 projects approved during the year, information technology related projects were the highest at 382. An investment commitment of Rs 1.85 billion has been registered in this sector.

Foreign investment worth Rs 3.84 billion has been approved for 55 manufacturing companies, Rs 2.55 billion for energy-related projects and Rs 1.46 billion for agriculture.

In the review year, an investment commitment of Rs 5 crore has been received in two infrastructure projects.
