Kathmandu. WhatsApp has suffered a major setback. Citing security concerns, the US House of Representatives banned the use of WhatsApp on government devices.

The U.S. House is called the Lower House of the United States Congress. Its members have a tenure of two years. According to a report by Android Headlines, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the US House of Representatives considers WhatsApp a high risk due to lack of transparency in the way users’ data is protected.

Microsoft Teams, Signal and iMessage have been asked to be used as alternatives. This decision will affect the employees of the US Congress. They will not be able to use WhatsApp on government gadgets.

WhatsApp’s parent company Meta has criticized this decision. “WhatsApp is more secure than the Signal app, such as the signal app, in front of the public by the chief administrative officer,” Meta said. ’

The US House of Representatives banning WhatsApp is a big blow to Meta. According to the report, US Congressional employees have been told not to use WhatsApp in government gadgets.

It is worth noting that just a week ago, WhatsApp had announced to start advertising on its app. However, these ads have nothing to do with this decision. But that’s a challenge for the company. Because America is whatsApp’s home market.
