Kathmandu. A bridge has been restored at Baguwa along the Kanti Lokpath, which was damaged by the massive floods triggered by unseasonal rains in the Bagmati River last year.

A temporary bridge was installed with the help of the Nepal Army after the flow of the river damaged the permanent structure of the bridge. Kanti Lokpath Project informed that the bailey bridge has been installed at the site of the old bridge in Baguwa and the traffic has been opened from Today. Although it was resumed from April 15, the length of the bridge has been extended by halting traffic for four more days after the flood washed away the diversion.

Around 50 workers and technicians were deployed to install the bridge. Gabion walls are also being constructed to prevent the new structure from being damaged by the flow of the river.

In the last week of last year, floods had washed away the span and the road on the Makawanpur side of the Bagmati Bridge. A temporary track made of sand and mud was constructed on the stretch from the bridge to Makawanpur to operate the traffic temporarily. If a temporary track is built, the river will continue to flow through the cliff, so the risk of this section being washed away by floods at any time remains the same.

According to kanti lokpath project, the construction of 24.4 meter long and 5 meter wide bridge has been completed. The bridge connects Bhimphedi rural municipality-8 of Makawanpur and Bagmati rural municipality-2 of Lalitpur.
