Kathmandu. The government has decided to impose a fine of up to Rs 10 lakh on petrol pumps for creating artificial shortage of fuel.
The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies has amended the Nepal Oil Corporation’s Petroleum Products Dealers Bylaw-2075 to take stern action against petrol pumps causing artificial shortage. According to the amended provision, for the first time, a fine of Rs 300,000 will be imposed on those pumps creating artificial shortage of fuel and the supply will be stopped for 5 days.
Likewise, if the petrol pump is found guilty of inappropriate act for the second time, the petrol pump will be fined Rs 600,000, fuel supply will be stopped for 10 days, Rs 1 million will be fined Rs 1 million for the third time and the supply will be stopped for 15 days.
