Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The government has decided to scrap the license of power generation of hydropower projects that have not been able to complete the power purchase and sale (PPA) process.
Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle made this announcement while presenting the budget for the coming fiscal year in the joint session of both houses of the Federal Parliament on Monday. “The power generation license of the projects that have not completed the PPA will be scrapped,” he said, adding that PPA would be done on take or pay for projects smaller than 10 MW.
Wagle said that 40 percent of the shares of the storage project will have a locking period of only one year.
Similarly, Finance Minister Wagle said that the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) will be made separate companies for generation, transmission and trade.
