Kathmandu. The leadership of the Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) has been reshuffled. The government has appointed Chandrakala Poudel as the board of directors of the Insurance Authority.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held today decided to give the responsibility of Chairman of NRA to Poudel. Poudel is the secretary at the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration.
The government has decided to appoint Poudel as the chairman of the NRA until further arrangement.
Earlier, the last government led by Sushila Karki had appointed Janak Raj Sharma, joint secretary at the Ministry of Finance, as the chairman of the NRA. The then KP Sharma Oli-led government had appointed Joint-Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, Sewanta Pokharel, as the chairman of the NRA. However, the last government formed after the Genji movement recalled Pokhrel and appointed Sharma.
Sharad Ojha was the chairman of the NRA before Pokharel joined the NRA. However, the then government had formed a three-member probe committee under the chairmanship of former High Court Justice Krishna Giri as per Section 12 (2) of the Insurance Act, 2079 BS. After the formation of the investigation committee, Ojha was automatically suspended.
