Kathmandu. The government is going to provide concessional loans of up to Rs 60 lakh to government employees to buy cars.
This has been proposed in the Directive on Vehicle Management for Government Employees, 2083 prepared by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. In this guideline, it has been proposed to provide a concessional loan of Rs 6 million to the Chief Secretary, Secretary and 12th level employees for the purchase of a four-wheeler vehicle and 100 percent subsidy on the interest of the loan.
Similarly, it has been proposed to provide Rs 5 million to the employees of the joint secretary and 11th level for the purchase of four-wheelers and Rs 4 million for the employees of the ninth or tenth level and 10 percent interest subsidy.
Similarly, section officer or sixth, seventh and eighth level employees will be provided Rs 400,000 for the purchase of two-wheelers and Rs 200,000 for non-gazetted or assistant level employees and 100 percent subsidy on interest.
Fuel & Maintenance Expenses
The government has decided to provide Rs 1.40 lakh for fuel and Rs 100,000 annually to the chief secretary and secretaries.
The joint secretary will get Rs 1,20,000 per annum for fuel and Rs 75,000 for maintenance. The deputy secretary will get Rs 1 lakh for fuel and Rs 50,000 for maintenance annually.
Similarly, the government has proposed Rs 40,000 for fuel and Rs 15,000 for maintenance and Rs 25,000 for the assistant level employees.
The amount for fuel and maintenance expenses will be divided by 12 months and paid monthly along with salary, according to the guidelines. Employees who are already using private vehicles will also be able to get this fuel and repair facility.

Similarly, the Chief Secretary, Secretary and Joint Secretary or equivalent employees will be able to choose between keeping a driver or driving a vehicle themselves. If they choose to drive their own vehicle, they will get an additional monthly salary equal to the starting scale of the light vehicle driver. Employees of other levels will not get driver facilities.
