Kathmandu. Non-life insurers have brought in more than Rs 5.40 billion in the current fiscal year 2083. In the first month of ’84, they have brought in business of more than Rs 5.40 billion.
According to the data released by the Nepal Insurance Authority, non-life insurers have collected a total insurance premium of Rs 5.40 billion in the current fiscal year. Of these, 14 non-life insurers and 4 micro life insurers have collected the highest total insurance premium of Rs 1.65 billion. The share of property insurance in the total business is 30.76 percent.
The second largest business of the companies is seen in the motor insurance. During the review period, the companies collected a total insurance premium of Rs 1.22 billion towards motor insurance. The contribution of motor insurance to the total business is 22.64 percent.
Similarly, the third largest number of business companies have brought in engineering and contract risk insurance. During the review period, companies collected a total insurance premium of Rs 75.87 crore from this sector. Engineering and contract risk insurance accounted for 14.05 per cent of the total business.
In the current fiscal year, the companies have collected Rs 596.9 million (10.25 percent), Rs 42.91 million (7.94 percent) in miscellaneous insurance, Rs 32.32 million (5.98 percent) in health insurance, Rs 192.22 million (3.56 percent) in agriculture and crop insurance, Rs 13.44 million (2.49 percent) in air insurance, Rs 73.2 million (1.36 percent) in micro insurance and Rs 12.29 million (0.24 percent) in liability insurance.
