Kathmandu. The government of Nepal has increased tax on education, which is directly related to the daily life of the common people, from July 1.
Parents who are compelled to enroll their children in private schools due to lack of quality education in government educational institutions will have to pay additional 3 percent tax.
If a consumer consumes more than 50 units of electricity for daily consumption, he will have to bear the burden of additional 5 percent tax in the current tax.
Besides, patients compelled to go to private health institutions for treatment due to lack of doctors and medical equipment in government hospitals will now have to pay additional 3 percent tax on the treatment expenses.
The general public will have to pay 0.5 percent additional tax on the sale of gold, silver or jewelry linked to the long-term safe investment and future.
As public transport is difficult in big cities including Kathmandu, consumers traveling with the help of small rental vehicles including motorcycles will now have to pay tax on such services as well. The government has imposed additional 5 percent service charge on riding sharing from July 17.
