Kathmandu. Google has made a major announcement. It provides end-to-end encryption support for Gmail users. This support is available on both Android and iOS operating systems. End-to-end encryption is also available on the instant messaging app WhatsApp.

Once updated, users will no longer need separate software or extensions to provide a layer of security for sending sensitive emails. E-mails will reach the receiver securely.

What is end-to-end encryption?

End-to-end encryption is a type of digital security lock system. No one other than the sender and receiver will be able to decode the e-mail or message using this technology.

In simple words, users will be able to send a box with gold and silver. Such people lock it and only the receiver has the key. End-to-end encryption works similarly.

Google has announced that it will extend Gmail’s end-to-end encryption support to Android and iOS devices. Once updated, users will be able to create, send and read encrypted emails directly from the Gmail mobile app.

End-to-end encryption will be available for enterprise users of Google Workspace with client-side encryption capabilities. Users need to activate Android and iOS support through the admin console before they can access it.

Google has said that this update is live for both the quick release and scheduled release domains. Once end-to-end encryption is available on mobile, users will be able to access it securely from anywhere. Previously, encrypted e-mail required either desktop or third-party devices.
