The airline said that the airworthiness certificate of one of its Airbus A320neo aircraft has expired. Despite this, on November 24 and 25, it was used in eight revenue sector sectors (commercial flights). The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) started an investigation into the matter on December 2. The regulator has now imposed a fine after the investigation is completed.

Following the news of the fine, Air India issued an official statement. “We have received the DGCA order. This case is related to the incident that we ourselves reported to the authority in 2025. All of the deficiencies identified in our investigation have been fully corrected and a report has been submitted to the regulator. ’

Since the Tata Group took over, the airline has been trying to improve its service. However, there have also been instances of regulatory violations.

In the past, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has fined Air India lakhs and crores of rupees several times due to inadequate pilot training, crew behaviour and technical deficiencies. The regulator is now taking a much tougher stance on ignoring safety standards.
