International Conference on ICT and Photonics to be held for the first time in Nepal

The International Conference on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Photonics (ICT) 2026 is being organized by Nepal Engineering College and Research and Innovation Center Nepal. The conference is going to be held for the first time in Nepal (ICTP 2026) from January 22 to February 15 at Hotel Hyatt Centric in Soltimode, Kathmandu.

Secretary of the conference, Engineer Birodh Rijal, said that the programme is being organized to create a culture of research on information and communication technology and photonics. “This conference will prove that there is no dearth of research talent in Nepal. There is also significant participation of Nepali researchers in the conference. “We are facing problems as the government has not allocated enough budget in the research sector,” he said.

Prof. Dr. Chang-Hee Lee, Seung Han Han and Prof. Pul Ho Lee of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Top Research University, South Korea, and Prof. Dr. Pul Ho Lee of Eastern International University, Vietnam. Dr. Narayan C. Devnath of Nanjing University, China. Shillong Pan and Pvt. Dr. Shuping Zhang will participate as a keynote speaker. Nepali researchers will also present papers on various topics.

Research papers in 6 different areas—RF (Radio Frequency) and Photonics, AI and Machine Learning, ICT Policy and Digital Governance, Recent Trends in Computing, and Robotics and Automation would be presented during the conference.

The Nepali students have been charged Rs 12,000 to Rs 14,000 and researchers Rs 15,000 to Rs 18,000 respectively. However, the fees will be different for participants from SAARC countries and other countries. The participants will also be able to participate in a workshop called ‘Global Digital Innovation’ organized by KAIST, South Korea.

The deadline for sending the research paper has been fixed from September 15 to November 30, while preparations are underway to extend it by 15 days. It is believed that the teachers and students active in the science and technology sector of Nepal would get valuable learning in the field of research from the conference.

The conference is expected to inspire innovative ideas, foster collaboration, and facilitate knowledge exchange to advance improved sustainable technological development.

Principal of Nepal Engineering College, Durga Prasad Bhandari, who is also a member of the organizing committee, said that although the Nepali researchers are of international level, the current conference is a big issue on how to get maximum knowledge from the research presented by senior researchers associated with various organizations including ICPT.
