Kathmandu Metropolitan City issues 7-day ultimatum to remove illegal structures

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has given a 7-day ultimatum to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) to vacate the encroached land and remove the structures that border the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC).

Issuing a joint notice, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and the Kathmandu Valley Development Authority (KVDA) urged the local levels to help clear the encroached land and remove the structures breaching the standard. The Local Government Operation Act, 2074 BS has a provision that the construction of building-based structures should not be done against Chapter 7 and Section 45 of the Local Government Operation Act, 2074.

According to Clause 97 of the Act, the local level has the responsibility and responsibility of the protection and development management of public land and property.

The notice warns of taking action if the public land is not vacated within the stipulated time and if the structures built against the standard are not removed. The general public has also been appealed to inform about the structures built against such standards.
