Interim government preparing to scrap Land Related Problems Commission

Kathmandu. The interim government led by Prime Minister Sushila Karki has decided to scrap the Commission to resolve the Land Related Problems.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers on Sunday decided to scrap the Commission to Resolve the Land Problems along with various decisions to cut government expenditure.

The Ministry of Finance informed about the decisions of the meeting in a press release on Tuesday evening. According to a press release issued by the ministry, the fifth point (d) of the decision of the Council of Ministers is to “make arrangements for the dissolution of the Commission to Resolve the Land Problems”.

The meeting also decided not to create new structures in a way to create duplication and duplication in work responsibilities at federal, provincial and local levels.

In case of emergency, no additional posts will be created except for technical manpower. The Council of Ministers has also decided to take service consultation instead of permanent posts so as not to create long-term liability in specialist service, and to reduce unnecessary structures and posts at the earliest by conducting a brief organization and management survey of the ministries including the Ministry of Finance, Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs.
