Kathmandu. Former President of Insurance Association of Nepal and Chief Executive Officer of Sagarmatha Insurance Company Chunky Chhetri has urged the government to insure the government property. Speaking at an interaction programme on ‘The need of revival of economy’ organized by the Association of Economic Journalists (NEJ) here today, Minister Khatri said that insurance of government assets should also be compulsorily insured.
“Many unforeseen incidents happen in Nepal. As a result, there is a lot of damage to government property. The government was not insured for the damage during the earthquake,” he said. It is also necessary to insure the government’s heritage and property. ’
Similarly, he said that bank insurance is mandatory in Nepal. “It’s also necessary. It covers the entire area. The insurance companies did not think that the current agitation would cause a lot of damage. The unexpected happened. The plan is to cover 65 per cent of the damage from the current incident,” he said.
