The resumption of flight services from Tribhuvan International Airport has not been decided yet

Kathmandu. The Tribhuvan International Airport was scheduled to resume its flight service from Wednesday afternoon.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has decided to resume flight services only after coordinating with the security agencies, consuming that there would be a security risk to resume flight services until the security situation of Tribhuvan Airport as well as airports outside the capital is improved.

Due to the security situation, both domestic and international flights have been suspended from this airport since 2:30 pm on Tuesday. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has suspended the flights citing security reasons due to the smoke seen around the airport and at different places along the landing route.

Meanwhile, Buddha Air, the private air service provider, has said that the flight service will be suspended till 12 noon on Wednesday. The company has also informed that the amount for the tickets of the passengers who have been canceled will be refunded.

The Air Service Operators Association has pledged to provide service to the general public even in the current situation. Issuing a press release today, Association President Manoj Karki said that the member companies of the association would always be ready to serve the general public.

With the cancellation of flights, a large number of passengers are still waiting at the airport.
