Muktinath Agriculture Company’s workshop on modern wholesale agricultural market concluded

Kathmandu. Muktinath Agriculture Company Limited has organized the workshop in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, co-organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and the Project. The company has organized the workshop to promote the rationale, need and investment of establishing and operating modern (international standard) wholesale agricultural markets in public-private partnership in areas directly related to human health such as food.

In his welcome address at the workshop, Managing Director of Muktinath Agriculture Company, Bharat Raj Dhakal, said that the event was organized as there was a need for an international level wholesale market to encourage the production by guaranteeing the products of farmers.

On the occasion, a panel discussion was held comprising the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Department of Agriculture, Nepal Rastra Bank and Centre for Agricultural Enterprises on national and international situation: challenges and opportunities and policy issues of establishment and operation of modern wholesale agricultural market.

Chief Guest and Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari said that the private sector should work towards improving the living standard of small farmers and serving the big farmers.

Similarly, secretary of the ministry. Govinda Prasad Sharma said that final preparations were underway to take the agriculture bill to the Council of Ministers and many issues related to production, processing and market management would be resolved after the implementation of the Act.

Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Board Sushil Gyewali said that the board is waiting for the processing, marketing and other big projects related to agriculture.

Similarly, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Vice-President Hemraj Dhakal stressed the need of formulating contract farming act for market management.

Muktinath Agriculture Company Limited has sent a message through video that it is ready to invest 10 billion capital by incorporating old market operators and new businessmen if the government issues clear laws regarding land management and agricultural market.
