Kathmandu. Jaipur: A young man has declared himself dead after receiving an insurance claim of Rs 50 lakh (Rs 80 lakh) in Rajasthan’s Bikaner. It has also come to light that he took the receipt of the funeral done at the crematorium loss to prove the incident of death correct.
The fraudster is mangilal Jani, a nursing worker. After preparing the documents in a fake way, Mangilal submitted it to the insurance company for the claim. Mangilal was found alive when the insurance company investigated. Saurabh, the legal officer of the insurance company, lodged a complaint with Jayanarayan Beas police station in Bikaner.
After the complaint was registered, the police arrested the accused Mangilal. According to the information, Mangilal got the insurance on August 9, 2023. For this, he told his address to the rented house where he lived.
According to police station officer Devendra, in the complaint, Mangilal had taken a term life plan of Rs 50 lakh. After depositing two installments, Mangilal’s relatives submitted fake documents and said that he died of a heart attack in October 2024.
In December 2024, Mangilal had called his friend Pawan as his relative and applied for the claim amount. Before taking the insurance, Mangilal opened an account in Bank of Baroda. Fake documents were prepared in Pawan’s name.
A receipt of Mangilal’s last rites was made from the city’s muktidham. A fake death certificate was prepared on the basis of the same receipt. While applying for the claim, the insurance company and bank officials came to know about the fraud during the investigation.
